The fortress Udscharma ( Georgian სურამის ციხე ) is a medieval Georgian fortress in the region Shida Kartli , in the municipality Khashuri , it dominates the northern part of town Surami and lies on the left bank of the river Suramula . 
The construction of the fortress whose topographical location in the center of Georgia in a canyon-like valley which near the Surami Pass on was Likhi Mountain ( Georgian ლიხის ქედი ) – and Surami Mountains ( Georgian სურამის ქედი ) decisive.
Today it is still unclear when and by whom the oldest parts of Surami Fortress were built.
Archaeological finds prove that already in the Bronze Age the area around the fortress was populated. Georgian historian Platon Ioseliani describes in his works that the first plants already in the 2nd century Ch. Of Iberian have been built (Georgian) King Parnadschomi.

As a testimony to the history of the country, parts of the fortress wall have been restored to form a tourist attraction in the city. From the wall crown you have a panorama view over the talkessel and the younger buildings of the city, which also include a Mother God’s Church and the Kviratskhoveli Church.
